Neighborhood ‘Self-Hauler’ Assistance
We started on the Kitsap Peninsula in 2009 and we’ve served here and grown here ever since. If we were any more local, we’d pitch a tent in your backyard. We have served this community for more than a decade, offering professional, quality junk removal and hauling services to both residential and commercial customers. As you may know, due to the COVID-19 crisis Kitsap Waste Facilities are closed to the public at this time. If you are unsure what to do with your garbage & recycling, Trash Transporter is here to help.
Here is what we know as of right now (March 30th, 2020):
If dumping at Bainbridge or waiting for Olympic View or Purdy to open isn’t an option for you, we’ve put together a ‘Neighborhood ‘Self-Hauler’ Assistance’ plan, including a Facebook Group.
Two important points:
- We are not licensed to operate as a dump, recycling center, or transfer station.
- We are not licensed to operate as a curbside garbage collection service.
We are a junk removal company. This is new territory for us and we are doing our best to creatively attack this issue. We will do our best to adapt and better our approach as we go. Please be patient with us.
Here is what we can do (at this time):
- Minimum Number of Residences Required: Three
*This number may change based on the amount of demand we see from the community.
- Everything must be curbside OR in a central location within the community.
- If it is curbside, it must be canned.
- If using a central location, we will coordinate to set an exact location and very specific time window allowed for drop off and pick up.
How much will this cost?
We charge based on volume and have 13 different price points on our truck. Everyone that participates will receive our ‘Friends & Family’ discount (10% off).
Typical costs are: e.g., our minimum is $115. A full truck is $583.20 (regularly $648), which is around 125 – 150 standard kitchen bags of garbage or recycling.
The majority of phone calls we’ve received are either from people who have 2-3 cans or an entire pickup truck bed full, so the amount of residences it takes to fill up a our dump truck will vary greatly.

Potential Questions or Concerns
Can we bring our garbage & recycling to you?
No. We are not any type of dump, recycling center, or transfer station. We travel to all our customers and dispose, recycle, or donate what we pick up at the properly licensed and regulated facilities.
How do I team up with my neighbors?
We’ve created a Facebook Group called Trash Transporter’s Kitsap ‘Self-Haulers’. This is a place for you to team up with other’s from your community or bring up questions, concerns, or suggestions. As soon as you have a group three or more in your general area, message us and we will get you scheduled. Otherwise, feel free to schedule a pick up individually. We will accommodate you at our earliest convenience. However, group pick-ups are our priority at this time.
Our neighborhood has many more than three residences that want to participate.
We can help. We’ve discussed setting up service for a 20 home neighborhood as well as a community with hundreds of homes that is currently figuring out the number of residents that are self-haulers. We’ve done junk removal community clean-ups for 400+ resident neighborhoods in the past as well as many much larger projects. Let us know how many homes are in your neighborhood, so we can have a much better idea of the potential volume you will have. We will do our best to make sure we schedule enough time to ensure your neighborhood is taken care of.
Will you haul our junk as well as our garbage & recycling?
It depends on how many residences you have in your group that are participating and how much stuff you have. If a small number of homes team up, say three, we can mostly likely allow other material. For larger groups or communities of ten or more, we will most likely allow garbage & recycling only, to ensure the most usable space in our truck for the material that is a potential health hazard.
Can we set up this on a recurring basis?
Yes. We’ll have a better idea of your specific neighborhood’s needs after our first pickup. We can discuss bi-weekly or monthly pick up if there is still a need for our services at that point.
How do we pay?
We accept all major credit or debit cards. In the sake of time, if possible, we ask that a single form of payment is used for each neighborhood.
